4th Axis Surface Machining possible to perform 4th axis index repetitions with surface machining projection work steps by selecting the Around X or Y Axis option on the work step Verification tab, and specifying an Angle increment and number of Copies. This capability can be used to machine the periphery of a complex closed surface model by defining a non-Offset Contouring work step that follows a single line Path Curve parallel to the index axis, and then projecting it onto the model surfaces at small angular rotation increments. This technique results in a uniform distribution of cuts, and allows certain types of models to be machined completely in a single setup, thereby eliminating machining mismatches that might otherwise occur with multiple setups.
