What is a Post-Processor ?

The CNC data file or "post-processor" is a template file needed to format the NC output during conversion of the part program into machine readable NC code. This template consists of program formats (e.g., TOOL CHANGE, LINEAR MOVE, RAPID MOVE, etc.) and  is customized to fit the command structure for a specific CNC control. To create or edit post-processor's, a special editor, MBUILD (Mill), TBUILD (Turn) and EBUILD (Edm)  is required.
