This parameter determines the direction in which the system searches (either Longitudinal or Transverse) along the Primary Surface to find the points where it intersects the Target Surface. The search direction must be chosen so that it is perpendicular (or as close to perpendicular as possible) to the Target Surface.
For instance, in the case of a cylinder passing through a plane perpendicularly; if the cylinder is chosen as the Primary Surface and the longitudinal direction is chosen (going around the cylinder instead of along its length), the system cannot find the intersection of the two surfaces. It must search in the Transverse direction in order to pass through the plane.

Searching in the transverse direction
Important
In addition to selecting the search direction correctly, it is also important to choose the Primary and Target surfaces correctly, so that the system can properly create the fillet surface.
