When the cut direction is set to Parallel a conventional zigzag path is created parallel to the Cut Angle. However when the Path Curve is defined as a closed outer boundary followed by a rapid link to an inner boundary or single point, a Longitudinal or Transverse cut Direction can be specified. The Longitudinal option generates a pattern that follows the boundary curve gradually changing from one profile shape to the other. The Transverse option generates a series of back and forth cuts between the outer and inner profiles.

These new patterns are particularly useful for projection machining of revolved or swept 3D profiles, allowing flow machining along or across multiple surfaces.
