Draft Angle (MILL)

Cycle: Contouring, Pocketing, Zig-Zag

This parameter is used to create tapered sidewalls by assigning the side angle to the 2D profile curve. As defined by the Z Step parameter located on the Tool Info tab of the Work Step Data dialog, the tool steps down along the sidewall until the final Z Depth is reached. All available milling tool types (flat, bull, ball, tapered) can be used for machining. When using tapered tools, ensure that the specified Taper Angle does not exceed the Work Steps Draft angle.

Assign a positive draft angle in case the machined 2D curve represents the top profile. If it is the bottom profile specify a negative draft angle.

Machined 2D Curve = Top Profile

Positive Draft Angle

Machined 2D Curve = Bottom Profile

Negative Draft Angle
