Reverse Direction

Cycle: Contouring, Pocketing, Zig Zag, Drilling Cycles

The Reverse Direction option allows you to change the cutting direction of a Work Step without changing the direction of the selected curve. When the Reverse Direction feature is turned ON it cuts the profile in the reverse direction of the curve.

Contouring

Ensure that the Offset Direction and/or Cutter Compensation settings are changed accordingly.

Pocketing

In the Pocketing cycle, if Reverse is turned ON, the spiral-out tool path is created moving opposite of the curve direction. In other words, if the pocket curve direction is clockwise, and Reverse is turned ON, then the spiral-out tool path moves counterclockwise.

Zig-Zag

In the Zig-Zag cycle, the Reverse setting affects only the Finish Path section of the tool path. The roughing operation continues as normal, but the tool motion of the finishing path is opposite of the curve direction. This allows the material removal inside the pocket to continue in a conventional milling operation, and the finish path to be cut with a climb milling operation. The finish direction on any islands in the Check Curves portion of the 3D Cycle Data Tab is unaffected.
