Cycle: Zig Zag
This parameter is used when surfaces are machined using the Zig Zag cycle. Normally, the tool path that is based on the current Step Over is calculated in the XY plane at the specified Z Surface level and then projected onto any underlying surfaces. With almost flat or slightly angled surfaces the results may be acceptable. But when machining surfaces with very steep or vertical sidewalls the resulting tool path changes more to an depth type of move instead. In that case, the Variable Step Over parameter forces the software to calculate the step over directly along the machined surfaces instead of projecting it from the XY plane.
