Cycle: Contouring, Pocketing, Zig Zag
When using the Contour or Pocketing cycle, the system may need to subdivide the pocket into separate regions that are machined sequentially. Depending on this option the system generates rapid or linear (if possible) connections between them. Also when multiple shapes are connected by rapid moves and are to be machines in several Z axis steps, then this parameter will control the behavior of Z level roughing.
If this option is checked, each shape will be roughed until Z Depth before moving to the next. If Minimize Jumps is not checked then each Z level is applied to all shapes before moving to the next Z level.

The graphic below displays a partially verified toolpath of a contouring Work Step. The machined path curve consists of 3 profiles, connected by rapid curve links. As the 'Z-Cuts First' option was activated, the system first finished all Z-Steps on Profile #1, then continued to Profile#2. This behaviour eliminates unnecessary rapid moves that otherwise would increase overall machining time.
