Indexer

This setting is used to activate 'indexing' of the tool around the fourth axis. This parameter should be set so that it matches the axis of the fourth axis or rotary table. For instance, if the axis of rotation is parallel to the X-axis, then this parameter should be set to X Axis. When the Indexing feature is turned on (set to either X-axis or Y-axis) the Verify commands will show the tool as it is indexed around the selected axis. The index angle and direction is specified by the location (Z axis direction) of the Machining Coordinate System (MCS ID) that is selected for the particular Work Step.

The drawing above shows two user coordinate systems "UCS1" and "UCS2".  In case "UCS1" is selected together with the X-axis as indexing axis, the resulting indexing angle would be 0 degrees since the Z axis of "UCS1" coordinate system is aligned to the WORLD Z-axis. Contrary to that, selection of "UCS2" as machining coordinate system would cause an indexing move around the X-axis since it's Z-axis is not aligned to the WORLD Z-axis. Keep in mind, that the Z-axis of the WORLD coordinate system always represents the 0 degree position.

Copies

Total number of index copies

Angle

Incremental copy angle. Rotation direction is controlled by assigning positive or negative value.

Start Angle

Absolute angle of the first index copy.
